PROJECT BEADSPREAD UPDATE

I have been working on my quilt and I am feeling good about it. Here is the design for the front of the quilt. I really wanted something subtle and clean looking. I laid out the design in illustrator full size.

As you can see, it's based off the repetition of this one shape.

So I made a template by simply printing out the shape onto the cardstock and cutting it out. I know that there is nice plastic that you can get a quilt shops to make templates with but I found that the cardstock works for me. Then, using a disappearing pen, I traced and cut out the shape.

Here is a close up of the two fabrics I'm using on the front. My mom happened to have 10 yards of this off-white linen and I picked up the oatmeal fabric at a discount store.

So I'm mainly working on cutting and piecing right now. I don't have a layout for the back yet but I did purchase some fabrics. I am the type of person that has to get the fabrics first before I can really start to understand what the pattern will be. I was lucky and got half of my fabrics 50% off. Here they are. I think that I will fill in the back with the same off-white from the front. That way the back will be bright and cheerful while the from remains calm and serene.

  1. Love it! I am in the process of making a baby quilt for my little boy, due in March. It is addicting! I didn't get my fabrics on sale though, so I have to wait a while before starting anything else. Do you have the capability to quilt the front and back together yourself, or will you send it out for that step?

  3. Meili,

I am going to do the entire project myself. But I have never made a full size quilt so I'm not sure how difficult it will be.
