THE ROAD TO NSS 2013: WALLS, WALLS, WALLS

I'm back with another installation of my The Road to NSS 2013 series. I can't really start to put together my booth and how it's going to look until I know how I am going to make my walls.

Unfortunately your booth at NSS only comes with pipe and drape. That means you have to find/create/buy your own walls. There are so many factors to consider that it keeps me up at night sometimes:
  1. Material: You can make your walls out of virtually anything. I've seen the following: fabric, wood, draping fabric, foam core, insulation board, and other things I couldn't identify. Your material determines how you display your items. You can't very well attach shelves to fabric.
  2. Transport: The weight and size of your walls will determine how you will transport them. If you are able to get the walls into smaller portions, you may be able to ship with UPS or FedEx but if they are full sized, you will have to pay for freight. Either way, it's expensive.
  3. Price: It's pretty easy to make walls that are cheap but then you have to figure out transport and if they will hold anything. You can always purchase the foam core walls provided by Manny Stone. These are not cheap but they install them for you and that's a load off your mind.
  4. Installation: You will be installing these bad boys yourself unless you pay to have them installed so you better have a plan.
  5. Re-Usability: This is an issue that I have long struggled with. It seems smart to just buy walls that you can use year after year but it's not that simple. For starters, you then have to pay to ship them to and fro each year. You may have a different size booth in the future or you may just decide on a different design aesthetic.
The above images show some of the ideas that I am toying with this year by Alee & Press, SusyJack, Ganim's Store, Smock, Linea Carta and Joie Studio. Although figuring out all of the details is a bit of a nightmare. I have one more thought on how to create my walls that I will share with you if it becomes reality.
