DISTRACTED

I have been pretty distracted from working, blogging and the like, but I have a good reason. I was working really hard designing my marriage announcements and party invites. My boyfriend and I decided to go down to the courthouse and make it official. I'm post pics of that later, this is all about the invites. We are having a Latin themed party in May, so I based the invites off Papal Picado which I spoke about last week. I plan to use them as the visual theme for the party.

So I designed the announcement and then carefully cut them out of fuchsia tissue paper. Then I lightly tacked them to a textured piece of 8.5x11 paper with a glue stick. It was painful and took way longer than I thought it would, but I loved the idea so much that I couldn't not do it. However, the list continued to grow and I was on a deadline,(I only had 2 weeks from the time we made the decision to when the announcements went in the mail) so I did print half of them on the paper instead of cutting them out. I still feel a little disappointed about that, but my fingers are happy about it. The announcement went into a large curry envelope with multiple bright stamps including a latin jazz stamp and then I created a wrap around address label with a hint of the design inside.

The party invites are a little more down to earth, parts of the announcement design printed on paper in coordinating shades. I am really happy with the way they turned out and was very excited to see that everyone liked them just as much.

  4. congratulations! you are totally and completely forgiven for neglecting your blog duties to us loyal readers. congrats! congrats! congrats! and fyi, i LOVE the non-traditional wedding-ness. if i have it my way, and i'm sure i will (some far off day), i'm gonna do something similarly and just forget about tradition. oh! it must've been a crazy couple of weeks.

and like the others have said, those invites are to die for! seeing your work makes me jealous that i have no training whatsoever in computer graphics. i can hand draw the heck outta me, but i don't know how to turn it into something use-able. LOVELY COLOR COMBO! LOVES IT ALL!

  9. These are fantastic! You did such a great job! I'm thinking of a Latin-inspired theme for my wedding as well, and I was wondering ... did you do these will Illustrator? I noticed that another commentee mentioned you were great with computer graphics so I was wondering what program you used to design these? Thanks!
