I decided to paint the wall in my office this past weekend. Here is it step by step. (Sorry for the tiny photo, but I took the first one with my phone so that I could remember where the pics went on the wall and then I decided to really document it and pulled out the real camera.)
I first decided that I would use my mod pattern. It seemed easy enough, but with a nice reveal. I printed out a mod on cardstock and cut it out. I then, using a little bit of double sided tape, traced it over and over again on the wall with a pencil.
I got bored tracing, so I started painting. I just have to see what it's going to look like. I have no patience.
this is the finished product. I ended up doing 2 coats which still gave it a little handmade look without seeming undone. Three coats would have looked too solid I think.
And here it is with all my stuff on the wall. I changed the pictures around a bit so that they each have a thick boarder to fit in with my newly patterned wall a little better. I didn't want it to seem too cluttered.
Then, Saturday night, I went to see my husband's band at Mint Gallery. They had an amazing show where they set up blank canvases and paint and markers and everyone just painted what they wanted. The result was inspiring. Again, tiny phone picture.
this looks fabulous!!
ReplyDeletewow, that is awesome! would have taken me months lol. where did you get your wood for your long desk, i'd love something like that!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I wished we were allowed to paint the walls of our apartment. One of the things I miss most about our condo in Illinois is the color on the walls. All white, no matter how many pictures I put up, always seems to look so stark.
ReplyDeletethat looks so fantastic avis!
ReplyDeleteBusy Vee: the wood for my desk came from Home Depot. It was super cheap, but it's been a while now and I can't remember how cheap.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! I love the design you chose to stencil. Is that the printer you use for your work? I'm looking at a new HP. .
