EATING MY WAY THROUGH NYC

I have to share with you the lovely places I had the fortune of visiting in NYC. The food was amazing everywhere we went. You probably don't need my advice since there are some many wonderful places to eat, but I'm giving it to you anyways. Most of these are reasonably priced, so maybe that helps.

Let's start with desert. We went to Dumbo which is a neighborhood in Brooklyn and had ice cream at Jacques Torres Chocolate. He has a little ice cream shop located to the right of his chocolate shop. I had the spicy chocolate and it was the best chocolate ice cream I have ever eaten. They also make ice cream sandwiches with the biggest, yummiest cookies ever. Located: 66 Water Street Brooklyn, NY 11201

We went for our first real dinner out to a place in the West Village called Fatty Crab. Generally I don't make it a habit of eating at places with fatty in the name, but I was happy I did this time. They serve Malaysian inspired seafood in a loud and raucous atmosphere. The food is served family style which is great since you will want to try everything. We had a noodle bowl with Chinese sausage, mussels, fried soft shell crab and one other dish that I can't remember because I was on enjoyment overload. This is not in the reasonably priced range, but worth the splurge. Located: 643 Hudson Street (between Horatio and Gansevoort) New York, NY 10014 and 2170 Broadway (between 76th and 77th) New York, NY 10024

Bar Pitti was recommended to us by a guy on the street selling really awesome t-shirts. As I was researching for this post, I found out that it is a favorite of a number of celebrities like Beyonce & Jay-Z. I did see a basketball player while we were there :) This is a very reasonably priced, very authentic Italian restaurant with the most adorable outdoor seating. We got there at a good time, before the line started to form. I had a pasta dish with tomatoes, artichokes & leeks. The only other place I have had pasta this fresh and perfectly cooked was in Italy. My husband had the eggplant parmigiana and said it was the best he's ever had. It's kind of sad because we thought we had just found a great Italian restaurant close to our home, but it pales in comparison. Located: 268 Sixth Ave., New York, NY 10014

Angelica Kitchen happened to be on a list provided by our hotel of restaurants near by. It didn't happen to be that close, but it was so worth the walk. The food here is organic, local, vegan and really good. My husband had the jambalaya and I had a veggie plate that came with soup, bread and a spread. It was like eating at home. Also, while researching for this post, I found out that Gwyneth Paltrow recommends this restaurant on her blog, Goop. Located: 300 East 12th St, NYC.
