PROJECT BEADSPREAD

This in a picture of a quilt I made about 5 years ago. I screen printed the patterns and sold them as new baby quilts on etsy. Back then I made very simple quilts with just a few pieces to give them a modern look and feel as well as making it easier for me to complete.

I am starting a new quilt project for a full size quilt for my queen size bed. Right now, we are using a light quilt that was purchased at a department store when I was in college. This is our summer months quilt. We have a down comforter for the winter (it gets really cold here in Hotlanta) that I have a cover for.

Our summer quilt has taken a beating since the arrival of our kitten and I have decided that it is time for a new one. So in the hopes of saving a little money, I am going to make one. I am going to share the project with you and would love your input. Here are a few of the quilts of Gee's Bend that inspire me:

I like the monochromatic look to this one with just a few pops of color.

I like the asymmetrical stripes on this one.

I like the entire pattern of this one. I plan to make one side very plain in white and gray and cream. The other side I think will be a little more interesting and I am liking the patterns below from Joel Dewberry and Denyse Schmidt. (I really want to design fabric one day!)

I think maybe a yellow, gray, brown scheme with pops of red/purple. This way, we can have 2 quilts for the price of one. I have done some preliminary scouting at Intown Quilters which is such a cute and awesome place just down the road from me. They have everything you could ever want for quilting and I can't wait to get over there and buy some fabric.

Lastly, this is the book I will be referencing for this project.
