DIY GLITTERED DOILY ARTWORK (A VALENTINE'S DAY PROJECT)

Let me begin our little tutorial by saying that I had never glittered anything before I made this. I'm not sure if that's supposed to make you feel better to worse. I mean I'm sure I glittered something as a child but nothing in my adult years. I am no expert and there may be a better way to make this. But this method actually ended up working for me. Another disclaimer: If you are not familier with glitter, it get everywhere. No matter how hard you try to keep it contained, it will be on your cat's paws and in your eyelashes. So that is why there are no process pics for this one. But I think you'll get the idea.

So, here is how to turn an cheap doily from the craft store into glittery, shimmery, beautifully simple Valentine's Day Art.

Supplies:
Store bought doilies  (I got my heart shaped ones at Michael's)
glitter (I used Martha Stewart's smoky quartz glitter)
spray adhesive
frame (I got mine at Ikea)
large scrap paper

Directions:

1. Take your doily outside and lay it on a large piece of scrap paper. Newspaper would be great for this. You just want to protect everything from spray glue. Read the instructions on the glue. Some require you to shake the can for a minute before spraying. Hold 6-8 inches from the doily and spray generously.

2. Take the doily inside and place on another large sheet of scrap paper. Dust the doily liberally with glitter. Let sit for a few minutes.

3. Shake the excess glitter off the doily. But be careful and try not to touch it too much. Carefully shake the glitter back into the container.

4. Take the glittered doily outside and spray it again to set glitter. Let it rest for a few minutes again and then frame.
