A PRACTICAL WEDDING BOOK SIGNING

These are the only two good shots I got at the "A Practical Wedding" Book signing. The first one is of Meg and a baby that belongs to Leah & Mark of LeahandMark.com. They along with Wedding Day Hooray (which I will be a part of, but more on that later) and Youngblood Gallery & Boutique put this little shindig together in like an hour. Well that was how long it took them to organize it. I'm sure setting up and everything else took a bit longer. 

The second photo is of the 3 legged cat that lives at Youngblood. If you live in Atlanta and you haven't been to Youngblood, you have to go. They feature really lovely, local artists.

The evening was short but sweet. Meg spoke for a bit about the process of birthing a book and how it related to the wedding industry and then she had a back and forth with Leah about being women/mom entrepreneurs. Then there was a little Q&A with the audience. We ended up taking mostly about business and valuing your work instead of weddings which was fine by me. Meg talked a lot about how women should ask for more money in life and also discuss it with other women so we know when we're getting screwed. For some reason, we seldom share that part of our lives when as women, we share everything else. I'm not sure why there is so much shame associated with money but I feel it a lot. A a business owner, I feel that my income is intertwined with my self esteem. I guess everyone does. Even though I think a lot about the other things in my life that make life so wonderful, not making the amount of money that I want to takes precedent. I think that if I worked for someone else I would blame them for my lack of prosperity but now I only get to blame myself. Conversely, when things are going well, I get all the credit. So I guess it works both ways.
