I have a couple of people ask how I designed my announcements. So I researched a lot on Papel Picado and how it is made. I grabbed a lot of images off the internet and I then did what I do a lot. I traced the pixellated images using illustrator and just pieced together a bunch of designs to make my final design. The real magic comes when you actually cut the tissue paper. This makes the edges a little rougher and unique. That is why it still hurts my heart a little bit that I could only handcut about half of them.
To answer another question, I will be creating an invitation line to be released sometime in the future. Is that specific enough? I have had some interest in my announcements and they will probably be available, but they wll be quite pricey. Think $15 each. But, if you want a keepsake or two and you want me to print the rest or design them for you to print, that would be a much more conservative way to go and I would be more than happy to do it.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
I really LOVE your announcements and admire your skill with the papel picado! Papel picado features prominently in our upcoming wedding. If you see my blog you will see how we took major shortcuts but were able to get a few custom banners from Mexico.
ReplyDeleteI will keep an eye out on your Etsy store and may be contacting you in the future keepsake design.
