Today I want to share with you some ideas on how to turn found objects or mementos into art you can display on your walls. First up is a wood card that I got from Night Owl Paper Goods at the National Stationery Show a few years ago:
The wood card is attached with a strong magnet to a small metal board. I am pretty sure that I got the metal board at Target and it's around 4"x6". I think it came with the strong magnet. The best part about this solution is that I can switch it out whenever I like. I had an old playing card on there before. You can change it out as your inspiration changes. My next idea uses a box frame I got at Micheal's. It's by Martha Stewart.
These are two puzzle pieces that I literally found in a parking lot. I hung on to them for a while until I found the best way to display them. This frame came with the pins that I used to stick the puzzle pieces to the fabric background. I'm sure they don't sell these frames anymore since I got it a few years ago, but you can find other shadow boxes or just have them free in a frame without glass. I actually think that would look really cool. You can do this with anything you find or have around. I think any type of collection looks good in this fashion. Wouldn't a set of old keys or earrings that don't have partners look great displayed this way?
Lastly, I have displayed 3 Eames stamps that I wanted to save by sticking them to a yellow card and them framing them with a clip frame. These frames are great to frame anything and you can get them anywhere for really cheap. This again shows you that you can really take anything and frame it and put it on display and it can look great.
These techniques can help round out any set of pictures and create a lot of interest. It's also a great way to have things that have meaning to you out on display instead of hidden in a scrapbook. I hope you get a chance to try this one!
