NEW YORK

In May, I will be attending the National Stationery Show. That's means I have tons to do to get ready for the show. I am working this week on finalizing my travel plans. So, if you have any recommendations on where to stay and what to do I'd appreciate it. My husband will be my assistant during the show and then we'll spend a few extra days in the city. Those days will be my first time in New York for fun and with time to play around. Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

Also, if you know of a store in your area that just has to carry my new line, please send over their info.

  1. First time in NY? How exciting! Some places to eat, you should check out Jane on Houston. (If you can do brunch, Jane is great.) Gray's Papaya for hot dogs, WD50 is an awesome restaurant. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Hope you have an awesome time and a successful show!

  2. Hey there, long time reader first time poster here :) So funny you ask about New York as I actually just returned from my first trip there myself - we stayed at the Roommate Grace Hotel in midtown, which was a groovy, clean and affordable hotel and easy to get around the city from the central location. Definitely do Top of the Rock (Rockerfeller Centre observation deck) at sunset - the views of the city and Empire State Building are breathtaking. And the Real New York walking tour (look for it on Trip Advisor) was a great not-so-touristy introduction to the city. Billy Elliot on Broadway was also fantastic (even my musical-hating husband enjoyed it) and you can usually get half price tickets at the ticket booth in Times Square on the day of the show. Have fun, it truly is the most fabulous city!

  3. Kyotofu. Great Japanese-inspired soy-based desserts. I think it's still there (I went last summer).

You'll have to google this or you can ask me to google it when I'm not passing through on my long blog reading list time, BUT, I heard about tours of underground NYC subways. Worth checking out.

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge is a fave. Morning, Afternoon, Evening. Great at any time of day if you ask me.
