MOVING UP!

Okay, so you may be tired about me talking about Crafting MBA by Megan Auman but it really is a great small business blog that I just can't stop reading and referencing.

Megan has been talking about Etsy and it's purpose in helping you grow your craft business. There are many good and bad things about Etsy and it's really personal opinion so I won't go over all of them here. I have really enjoyed my time with Etsy and think it is a great venue for the craft world. That being said, I do think there is a point when it no longer fits your business. I am at that point and Megan has been talking about this recently. You should really read her posts on the topic.

She talks about how it is a great place to test products and get your feet wet in many aspects of business. I really think that Etsy helped me get where I am today which is ready to move to my own shop. In the next month, I will be opening my own e-commerce site and re-vamping my Etsy site into a little different format. I have designed the new website, the developers are working on it now, I'm getting photos taken and everything is coming together. I can't wait to share it with you all and when I get a sneak peek worth anything, I'll share.

So then the question came up. What will I do with my Etsy site? It doesn't seem like I need to close it so I have decided to use it for my other creative endeavors. I have lots of other ideas and things that I want to make that don't necessarily fit with my brand or I'm not sure how they will sell. So I will use my Etsy site as a place to be more creative and free form as well as a breeding ground for new products.

I am so excited for this move. I feel like I am graduating high school! I'm moving from the comforts of Etsy out into the big bad web. It is a little scary but I really think it's time.
